I think you should have said to them:
No one has a right to tell you not to cosplay something just because they want to or think you don’t suit them. Just cosplay Alois if you want to & TBH Alois hasn’t got long legs, he just has really short shorts X’D So not sure what you’re friend is on about. I’d be different if you weren’t sure whether to cosplay him, but you want to so just do it.
With cosplay I always do what I want X’D It’s meant to be a fun hobby as well as an activity to learn new things. You seem somewhat sensitive though, so don’t take silly comments like that to heart.
